In Loving Memory

Suntrup, Gloria A.

January 17, 1944 - February 2, 2024

Gloria A. Suntrup (nee Genail) was born on January 17, 1944, and peacefully departed this life on February 2, 2024, surrounded by her family.  Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Suntrup.  She was beloved mother to Janine (the late Scott) Hanes, Scott (Susan) Suntrup, Kimberly (Steve) Barry, and Russell (Debbie) Suntrup.  Gloria was adored Nana to Andy (Candice), Matt (Brittany), John, Michael, Brenden, Dakota, Matthew (Avy), Owen, Colton, and Wyatt; and Great-Nana to Maeleigh, McKenzie, Lacey and Katy.  She is survived by her cherished sister, Bonnie Stehlin, as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and friends.

Gloria was a nurse for most of her life and always demonstrated her true calling, which was very simply to help people.  She was most proud of her family and was always present to support and cheer on her children and grandchildren during any event in their lives.  She could talk sports with anyone and was a faithful fan to her Cardinals and Blues teams.  She loved to travel and was fortunate to be able to do that often with her trusty travel mates. Gloria’s active and amazing life was tragically interrupted by an unexpected diagnosis which claimed her life a very short time later.  Her journey was a testament to life and to death and she handled it gracefully through the very end.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In celebration of Gloria’s life, her children invite you to join them on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4550 Telegraph Rd. St. Louis, MO  63129, for visitation from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, followed immediately by mass.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Gloria’s favorite organizations: The Backstoppers or to Mercy South Hospice
