August “Gus” William Swacker, Imperial, MO, 79
10-31-1943 to 1-11-2023
Born October 31, 1943 to Charlie and Ann Swacker of St. Louis, MO, Gus was the 5th of 6 children. He joined the US Air Force out of High School in 1960 and served his country until 1964 when he was Honorably Discharged. When he returned back to St. Louis, he began working for Sears Roebuck as a salesman. It was at a local restaurant across from Sears where he would frequent for lunch that he met the lady that would become his wife, Mary Ann Smith. They dated for 2 years before marrying on July 1, 1967. Shortly after their marriage, Gus began a career at Southern Equipment as a salesman. He went on to work 25 years for Southern Equipment and then an additional 30 years at Missouri Equipment. He loved his job and worked full time up until the final 2 weeks of his life.
While his career was a passion, his true joy in life was his wife, children and 6 grandchildren. He loved his family so well and cherished every moment he had with them. Gus is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Swacker, daughter Debbie (David) Butler of St. Peter’s, MO, daughter Chrissy (Mike) Cash of Hackett, AR and son Greg Swacker of Imperial, MO. Grandchildren: Trent Butler, Kara (Spencer) Drazic, Macie Cash, Madison Cash, Mabrie Cash and Chalin Swacker. Siblings: Charlotte Skidmore, Janice Rodway and Charlie Swacker as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ann Swacker. Brother, Bob Swacker and an infant brother.
Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Arnold, MO with visitation on Sunday, January 15, 2023 from 2-6 pm and Monday, January 16, 2023 from 10-11 am. Celebration of life service will begin at 11 am. Graveside service will be held at Shepard Hills Cemetery in Barnhart, MO immediately following. KUTIS SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL.
