Jean Anne (Boyce) Taylor of St. Louis Missouri returned to the Lord on January 5, 2024. She was 80. Jean was born March 9, 1944 to Joseph H. and Evelyn (Gorman) Boyce in Peoria, IL. They died in 1966 and 2008, respectively. On May 31, 1969 she married Arthur Taylor in Peoria. He died on January 5, 2021.
She was also preceded in death by a loving daughter, Rebecca Taylor; her beloved brother, John (Jack) Boyce; and three uncles, John (Anne) Gorman; Robert Gorman; and Donald Gorman. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Janet (Boyce) Gorman of Peoria, IL; and Barbara A. Taylor of Cinncinati, OH, a brother-in-law, Jim (Sandy) Taylor of Cypress, CA; two nephews, Joseph (Lori) Boyce of Germantown Hills, IL; and Pete (Heidi) Selenke of Bunceton, MO, three nieces, Regina (Jason) Sylvester of Celina, TX; Laura (Michael) Kemp of Hudson, WI; and Jenny Taylor of Cypress, CA, three cousins, Lawrence (Ann) Gorman of Shorewood, WI; Jim (Mary) Gorman of Greenville, SC; and Gena Gorman of Dunlap, IL, many adoring great nieces and nephews, and her cherished friends.
Jean held a lifelong passion for learning and education. She graduated as Valedictorian from the Class of 1962 Academy of Our Lady High School in Peoria, and attended Bradley University in Peoria where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. In 1969, she earned a Masters of Arts in Library Science from Rosary College in River Forest, IL. She worked for a number of library systems during her career, retiring from the St. Louis County Library. During her lifetime, she gifted hundreds of delightful books to family and friends.
She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier College Church in St. Louis, where she was a volunteer and longtime member of the choir. Jean donated her body to Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Services for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to St. Francis Xavier College Church.
