Tharp, Jerry

Jerry Tharp, born on April 13, 1944, in Corning, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024, in Waterloo, Illinois, at the age of 80.

Jerry is survived by his loving daughters, Martine Tharp O’Day and Elissa Lane Tharp, and his cherished granddaughters, Haley Karius and Alayna Tharp Dickerson.

Jerry dedicated many years of his life and retired as a Missouri State employee. During his high school years, he was an accomplished member of the track and football teams. In 1969 he graduated with a Bachelor  of Arts degree from the University of Missouri St Louis. Jerry proudly served in the United States Airforce and was honorably discharged due to an injury.

Known for his love of the St Louis Cardinals, KC Chiefs ,ice cream, fast cars, and mystery novels, Jerry found great joy in spending time with his family; attending his grand daughter’s sports and band events; listening to music of all kinds. His vibrant personality and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kutis Funeral Home, located on Lemay Ferry Road in St. Louis. Funeral services will take place the following day, Friday, June 7, at 10:00 AM at the same location. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery.

Jerry Tharp will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, warmth, his passions, and the love he shared with his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
