In Loving Memory

Thomas, George Richard

 Sept.24, 1949 -Feb. 6, 2021

In a world where true men are increasingly rare, Rev. George Richard Thomas fully embodied every iteration of what an aspiring man should seek to become. A fighter who served as a sniper in the marine corps and defended his country. A gold-standard husband who provided for and deeply loved his wife (Karen Thomas) unconditionally. A dedicated father who demonstrated strength of mind, body, and spirit to four boys (C.J., Kyle, Derek, Spencer) whom he loved boundlessly. A minister who spread God’s word and looked out for his flock as thoughtfully as any shepherd that’s ever walked the planet. A neighbor who gave selflessly of his time, compassion, and labor. A man of resourcefulness who was neither a plumber, carpenter, nor an auto mechanic, but whom possessed the curiosity, patience, and resourcefulness to fix, follow through with, and figure out any problem he was presented with. A man of integrity who would sooner walk barefoot across broken glass than whisper a word of dishonesty. A believer that God’s grace is available to all whom accept it and that what we do here echoes into eternity. He was the type of example we should all be seeking out. A template we’d do well to emulate and study so that we might become better versions of ourselves and graciously serve those around us. He was all of these things and so much more. Our pillar of strength that words fall short of describing. The world lost a true man in Richard Thomas…”R.T.”… “Dad.” And while we can’t possibly replace him, we can fondly remember his infectious smile, his witty sense of humor, and his many words of wisdom as we strive to live up to his lofty benchmark for what it means to love, what it means to give, and what it means to become. Here’s hoping we can use our time left on this planet to make a great man proud.

Until we meet again…

  3. Please accept my condolences to your family. Nothing can suffice to ease the pain you feel, except for the faith in God you all share. Richard gave himself to that calling and your family grew out that. Praying for you all.

  5. Richard (R.T.) Thomas was a founding member of our subdivision. For thirty years we had the esteem pleasure of living a few houses apart and watching each other maintain our lawns. Richard even taught me how to paint and put up wallpaper. We also had the once in a lifetime opportunity to watch our children grow up together and become outstanding citizens that we are so proud of today. It is a true honor and blessing to have known Richard.

Our deepest sympathies to the entire Thomas family and be assured Richard is in our hearts.
