Steven William Tucker passed away on July 31, 2025, at the age of 70, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Steve was born on November 17, 1954, in St. Louis, MO to Erman “Noonie” Tucker, Jr. and Peggy Burton Tucker. He was a 1973 graduate of Roosevelt High School and became a commissioned officer for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in 1977. He served his entire 35+ year career in the 9th District. After retirement, he worked at the St. Louis Zoo as a Zoo Ranger for 8 years.
Steve was the loving husband of Diane Powers (nee Parrish), proud father of Steven D. Tucker (Jennifer), and Scott W. Tucker (from his marriage to Kathy Rawlins), and step-father of Emily Young (Mike). Steve was the devoted grandfather of Audrey Tucker, and Brandon and Alexis Young. He is also survived by his mother, Peggy Tucker, sister Leslie Hassell, half-brother Terry Pitts, step-sister Lauren Marshall, nephew Paul Tucker Hassell (Gillian) and niece Jamie Waggoner (Justin). His love and devotion, extended to countless family members and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Judy Bond-Tucker, brother-in-law, Phillip Hassell, and cousin John Jolly, with whom he had a life-long special relationship.
Steve’s family was his greatest treasure, and he was devoted to them all. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He could be found faithfully cheering all three of them on from the sidelines of their volleyball and basketball games, which he and Diane attended every chance they got.
In recent years, Steve could be found volunteering in the dining room at Our Lady of Life senior apartments where his mother, Peggy, lived. In 2021, he and Diane moved to Farmington, MO. Steve became a member of Elks Lodge #1765 where he enjoyed cooking and socializing with his fellow Elks.
