Sharon Twitty, 79, died peacefully in her sleep at home under the care of hospice for her final few weeks. Sharon is survived by her wife, Linda Lee Sorensen, her two children; Dannie Twitty (Danielle) and Lisa Toennies (Andy); and nine grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, Alex, Rose, Nova, Tiffany, Zachary, Austin, and Evan, and two great grandchildren.
Born to Maxie Asbury and Marie Fairchild, Sharon was 1 of 9 siblings, 5 of whom have preceded her in death. She and her surviving sister Kathy Goodman spoke almost every day up until her last week.
Sharon met her present spouse, Lee at 42 years of age. She had just lost her job and moved to an apartment in St. Louis City. Her dream was to get a College education in Nursing and so she and Lee planned out a path. She accomplished this dream, graduating in Nursing 1990 from New York University. She ended her career working as the Diabetic Educator for Pine Lawn clinic in the St. Louis County Health Department.
When Sharon retired she spent her days sewing, traveling, and playing poker at the Elks club and with friends. Sharon found her spiritual home at MCCGSL in 2022, after being away for years. She attended as her health allowed her, contributing to the community with her prayers and a joyful spirit.
A funeral will be held at Kutis Funeral Home in Afton, 10151 Gravois Road on Thursday, May 2nd at 6pm. Visitation will be before the service from 4-6pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org), which Sharon believed in and supported monthly.
