George Charles Wagner, age 95, of Wildwood, Missouri, died October 28, 2023 in Verona Wisconsin after a brief illness. George was born January 24, 1928. He attended Quincy High School in Quincy, Illinois and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana. He entered the United States Navy July 16, 1945 and trained pilots at naval air technical training centers in Springfield, IL; Great Lakes, IL; Michigan City, IN; Memphis, TN; Gulfport, MI; Corpus Christi, TX; and Memphis, TN. He was discharged honorably January 24, 1949, having attained the rank of Aviation Electronics Technician First Class (AT1). He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from February 10, 1949 to Nov. 9, 1953.
On November 28, 1953 George married Patricia Ann Ahern. They had two daughters: Cynthia (“Cindi”) and Lisa. George was devoted to his wife, his daughters, and their families. Apart from his Savior, nothing was more important him than family.
George was employed by Union Electric Company for forty-one years as an electrical engineer, becoming Marketing Director of Special Projects before his retirement in 1994. His areas of responsibility included new forms of energy production and delivery.
All his life, George took his commitment to Jesus Christ seriously and supported several evangelical ministries and projects. He looked forward to meeting his Savior when he departed from this life.
George is survived by his wife Patricia (“Pat”); his daughter Lisa (Harold) Schnedler; his grandchildren Joshua (Carolyn) Baron, Christian (Alexis) Schnedler, Adena (Jim) Schnedler Edgeton, Leighton (Kerry) Schnedler and their spouses; six great-grandchildren; and his sister Darlene (Merle) Jacobs. He was preceded in death by his parents George Henry Wagner and Eleanora Sandman Wagner, and by his daughter Cindi (Alan) Baron.
Interment at Quincy Memorial Park Cemetery was held in private.
