Beloved Husband of the late Joyce Walters. Dear father of Dan (Chris Marie) Walters, Stephen (Lisa) Walters and Rebecca (Rick) Schlereth. Dear grandfather of Shane (Madeline), Evan (Amanda), Nicholas (Tatum), Brendan (Cristina), Jake (Andrea), Colin, Aiden and Addison. Dear great grandfather of Emma Rae. Our dear uncle, cousin and friend.
Robert R. Walters was born in Oklahoma and moved to St. Louis, Missouri, at a young age with his mother and five siblings. He attended Roosevelt High School, graduating in 1961. In 1960, he met the love of his life, Joyce, and the two were married on January 11, 1964. They shared a loving marriage of 61 years and celebrated their 50th anniversary by renewing their vows surrounded by family and friends, a true testament to their lifelong devotion to one another. Bob passed just 11 days after his beloved wife, Joyce L. Walters.
Bob was brave, confident, intelligent, wise and fearless, a man who wasn’t afraid to take risks when he believed in something. He was self-employed, owning Sanitary Dairy for 42 years. His entrepreneurial spirit inspired his children, and he took great pride in supporting and guiding them in their own business ventures.
Bob loved the game of golf, which brought him countless friendships and cherished memories. Once retired, there were few days he missed playing and often enjoyed playing rounds with his grandkids, sons and son-in-law. He also loved playing poker, game nights with family and friends, and had a deep love for donuts. He also enjoyed watching football and hockey and spent many years cheering on his children and grandchildren at the ice rink. He was deeply proud of each of them.
Above all, Bob was a devoted, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and newly great grandfather. Family always came first, and he would do anything to protect them. His legacy of strength, love, and generosity will continue through those who were lucky enough to know and love him. He was the one you could always count on to listen, to provide guidance and give support. Bob was someone people looked up to, someone to emulate and someone whose approval meant everything.
Bob will be remembered for his kind heart, contagious smile, laughter, quick wit, sense of humor, and what many would say, just an awesome guy.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Mercy South Heart Hospital care team for their compassionate care for Bob. The family welcomes flowers and/or donations to the Pedal the Cause organization Can’t Stop Colin team at https://www.givesignup.org/colinschlereth
