Survived by daughters Diane Wanner (Allan Malkis) of Saint Paul, MN; Carolyn Wanner (John Firman) of Silver Spring, MD; Marilyn Wanner (Robert Fisher) of Alexandria, VA; grandsons Eric (Virginia) Tehrani and Gabe (Emily) Firman; nephews Denis (Carol) Doelling and Paul (Diana) Doelling of Saint Louis, MO; great grandchildren Lincoln and Carter Tehrani, and Bella, Sadie and Lucy Firman; additional beloved great nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Genevieve Formanek was born on December 29, 1927 in Saint Louis, MO. She graduated from Rosati-Kain High School and attended St. Louis University. She spent more than 80 years living in the Southwest neighborhood in Saint Louis, MO before moving to Saint Paul, MN in 2009. She lived independently in Saint Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood until 2017, when she moved to the Episcopal Church Home in Saint Paul.
Genevieve had an adventurous, witty, and playful spirit. She was fiercely independent – a woman ahead of her time. After becoming a single parent at the age of 26, she began working full-time in 1955 to support her daughters. She soon after became an employment counseling professional, and owned and operated Gene Wanner Personnel in Saint Louis, MO from 1967 to 2004. She was a long-time member of the St. Louis Business and Professional Women’s Association and was Association President from 1983-1984.
A wake will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Rd. St. Louis, MO 63123. The funeral will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 5020 Rhodes Ave., St. Louis, MO 63109 on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be immediately after the service at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 7030 Gravois Rd., St. Louis, MO 63116.
