In Loving Memory

Wehrle, Marie C. (nee Iannicola)

St. Louis – Marie C. (Iannicola) Wehrle, loving wife of 69 years to George, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

Born August 11, 1931, in St. Louis, MO to Grace and Anthony Iannicola. Marie graduated from St. Alphonsus Rock High School in 1949.

She dedicated much of her life to raising her five daughters. She worked for more than 30 years at Kenrick Glennon Seminary as the Executive Secretary to the Rector, retiring in 2001 to spend more time with her family which includes her 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

In her retirement, Marie found joy in traveling with her husband, family, and friends, playing bridge, being a part of the Italian Club, volunteering at Birthright, and spending quality time with her family.

Marie is survived by her husband, George; her daughters, Toni (Tom) Hunt, Fran (Tim) Boyer, Judi (John) Laschober, Teresa (Dan Gebelein) Wolnik, and Cecilia (Keith) Fear; her grandchildren, Ted (Nicole), James (Brandi), the late Abigail, Ryan (Tonya), Michelle, Ellen (Sheldon), Beth (Jack), Robert, Thomas, Anne (Keaton), and Grace; and great-grandchildren, Clara, Watson, George, Edward James (EJ), Xavier, and Peter. She was a beloved sister to Theresa Koenig, Dolores Rezek, Dominic Iannicola, and the late Anthony Iannicola. She was also a cherished sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

A special thank you to Katherine with Assistance Home Care, Stacey, Mercy Hospice, and Nazareth Living Center for the dedicated and loving care they have offered Marie over the past several years.

Words cannot describe how greatly Marie’s presence will be missed in the lives of her loved ones, but her legacy lives on through them.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Rural Parish Workers of Christ the King and Birthright.
