Weingartner, Ethel (Joan) Rue

November 13, 1923 - May 2, 2024

Ethel R. Weingartner (nee Qualls) peacefully passed away Thursday May 2nd, 2024 at Mercy South Hospital.

Ethel was a faithful member of St. Marks Catholic church in South St. Louis.  Known to many of her friends and co-workers as Joan, she retired from Southwestern Bell after 31 years with her husband Clarence who also worked at Southwestern Bell.  She was a world traveler and a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband (Clarence L. Weingartner) of 12 years, her parents Virgil and Cordelia Qualls (nee Smith), 10 siblings (Rubin, Eldred, Mary, Hubert, Reba, Virgil, Steven, Suda Janell, Hugh and Delbert).  She was a loving Aunt to 4 generations of nieces and nephews.  She lived a full and happy life and will be missed.

Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, on Monday, May 13 9:30 AM to St. Mark Catholic Church for 10:00 AM Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 6-8:00 PM

  1. Aunt Ethel was a wonderful person with a big heart. She always had a smile and loved to chat. Her independence and strength is something I have always admired about her. She will truly be missed.
