On May 22, 2023, Michael Welker passed away at the age of 101.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Theresa Welker, of 75 years. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his children: Theresa (Erwin) Schwarz and Michael Welker Jr.; grandchildren: Christine, Gaby, Eric, Fred, Lauren, Alexis, and Andrea; great-grandchildren: Hunter, Remy, Tyler, Aston, Benji, and Maddie; as well as relatives and friends near and far.
Born in Sackelhausen, Romania in 1921, Michael Welker was a 65+ year member of the German Cultural Society, a feisty card player, a donut aficionado, a remarkable storyteller, a polka dancer, and an avid traveler.
As per Michael’s request, no memorial service will be held. If you wish, donations to the German Cultural Society of St. Louis can be made in Micheal Welker’s honor.
May he rest in peace.
This dear man will be missed. He visited my father-in-law quite a bit, so I was honored to hear some of his wit plus stories. And to see him at functions of the Cultural society.
