In Loving Memory

Wessels, Douglas M.

April 3, 1966 - June 1, 2026

Douglas M. Wessels
April 3, 1966 – June 1, 2026
If you knew him, you loved him.
Heaven is now a better place.
Doug lit up every room he walked into and always had everyone laughing. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family in a room full of love on June 1st.
Doug was a man of many hats. Among them, serving 4 years in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged Doug went on to work in the steel industry and held a long career with the United States Postal Service. One of Doug’s proudest endeavors was serving the people of the Lakota tribe in South Dakota on mission trips for the last 20 years of his life.
Doug was one-of-a-kind. He loved hard and laughed harder. He was sweet, caring and full of love. Family meant everything to him. He was always giving everyone trouble and making everyone laugh with him. He never met a person he couldn’t talk to. Doug loved all animals, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He always had some philosophical saying, that meant everything and nothing but always had you thinking about it long after he said it.
In the wise words of Doug “Wherever you go, there you are”
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Penelope (Penny); parents Tom and Linda; brothers Tim (Carla), Joe, and Eric (Robin); children Heather, Kade, Jason, Stephen (Angela), and Keith (Elizabeth); grandchildren Calvin, Maddax, Zander, Joshua, Jordynn, and Ryann; Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral arrangements will be held June 17, 2026 at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd. Visitation will start at 10am followed by funeral service at 12:30. Internment at Jefferson Barracks directly after funeral service.
