September 26, 1949 - March 20, 2025

John Michael Westhus, “Porky,” age 75, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital.
John was born on September 26, 1949, to Joseph and Mary Westhus in St. Louis, MO. He attended the University of Missouri and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
John married Kay (Stanford) Westhus, and they had three children, Elizabeth, Emily, and Jackie. John worked as a driver and retired from Lohr Distributing in St. Louis, then moved to Minooka, IL and worked for Good Time Amusements and Hollywood Casino.
He was an avid sports enthusiast, and coached his daughters’ softball and basketball teams for 12 years. John played softball himself for many years, and was inducted into the St. Louis Softball Hall of Fame.
John is survived by his loving wife Kay Westhus; daughters, Elizabeth (Drew) Barbeau, Emily Westhus, and Jackie (Kyle) Jakubs; grandchildren, Remi, Nora, Weston Barbeau, Jaxon, Willow, Jett, and Monroe Jakubs; sister-in-law, Lynn (Peter) Viehweg; brother-in-law William (Nancy) Stanford; sister-in-law, Nina (the late Joseph) Westhus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Westhus.
John had the joy of close relationships with many relatives, coworkers, and many long time friends.

SERVICES:  Memorial visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel (10151 Gravois Road Affton, Missouri 63123) on Saturday, June 7, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Sharing of memories at 3:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society appreciated.
