Wetmore, Bonnie Jean (nee Murphy)

 96, of St. Louis, Missouri, died surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 25, 2019. She was born in Tacoma, Washington on February 23, 1923 and raised in East St. Louis, Illinois by her parents Oscar S. and Sarah Ruth (Spaulding) Pearce. She graduated from East St. Louis High School and enlisted in the Women’s Army Air Corps during World War II where she was a secretary. She later worked as an administrative assistant for Military Air Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. She married Walter Wetmore on February 3, 1946 and raised eight children. She was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, adored children ,her dogs, and traveled often, even in her 90s. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Frances (Horace) Kirksey, her husband, daughter Susie Wetmore and son-in-law Bruce Vawter. She is survived by her brother Oscar F. Pearce (Kay), sister-in-law Carol Bridges (Dave), children Linda Vawter, Wally Henderson, Kathie Jo (John) Robert, Shari (Rick) Stoops, Scott (Kathy) Wetmore and Sean (Sarah) Wetmore and Kelly Wetmore, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The public visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Road in St. Louis. A funeral service will follow.
