Patricia Fawcett Winkelmann died November 18th, 2024. Her beloved husband of 63 years, Christian, preceded her in death. Pat is survived by her 5 children, Chris, Mary Tinsley (Gary), William (Joann Benjamin), Tim (Nancy Vrooman) and Paul (Rose Vitale), 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and her siblings Charles Fawcett, Jr., Kathleen Mankowski, Nancy Jackson, and Thomas Fawcett. She was born October 13, 1933, and was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Louise Fawcett and her grandson, Nick.
Pat grew up in Bel Nor and spent her life in St. Louis. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1951 and from St. Louis University in 1955. She returned to SLU earning a master’s degree in religious studies in 1999. She was a devout Catholic and lived her faith actively. She was a member of the Daughters of St. Francis de Sales, finding a source of spiritual growth and community with her Salesian family. Professionally, and at heart, Pat was an educator. Her passion extended from nurturing her family to her dedication in the classroom, including becoming a reading specialist. Pat and Chris shared a love of gardening in their own backyard, and Pat became a Master gardener and a Docent at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Throughout her life she relished the enjoyment of sewing, beginning with clothing and draperies, eventually creating beautiful quilts for the Nurses for Newborns. Pat taught us by her example of devotion to family, God, Church and community.
Services: Arrangements include visitation on Monday, November 25, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Justin Martyr Church, Sunset Hills followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m. Memorial Mass will be live streamed at https://stjustinmartyr.org/
