Winkler, Barbara Margaret (nee Kossmeyer)

November 9, 1933 - July 17, 2025

In Loving memory of Barbara M. Winkler, born November 9, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the cherished daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Kossmeyer. Barbara passed away peacefully fighting the battle with dementia and cancer on Thursday July 17, 2025 surrounded by her loving daughter, Lisa and son-in-law Bob, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and devotion.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Paul R. Winkler. She was a dedicated mother to Susan (Terry), Paula (Merle), David, and Lisa (Bob). She took great pride in being a grandmother to Jason (Nancy), Sarah (Steve), Michelle (Frank), Matthew (Kenzie), Mitchell, Spencer, Evan and Madeline. She was a great grandmother to Emily, Jacob, Brooks, Easton and Benjamin. She was a great-great grandmother to Jackson. She was the dear sister of Carl (Maria). She was also preceded in death by brothers Donald, Richard (survived by Sharon), Robert and wife Mary Ann, and Larry (survived by wife Sandy) and Ronald. Barbara was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to so many.

Barbara was a devote Catholic, finding solace and strength in her faith. Her love for the Blessed Mother was unwavering. She loved being with her family and friends. She was an active member and officer at Most Sacred Heart Church and Women’s Club. She was also an active member and officer at Wednesday Club of Eureka. She was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team.

We invite family and friends in celebrating Barbara’s extraordinary life at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois Road, St. Louis, Mo. 63123 on Thursday July 24, 2025; with memorial visitation from 4-8 pm. Then there will be a memorial visitation at Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 350 E 4th Street, Eureka, Mo. 63025 on Friday July 25, 2025 from 9:30 am. with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30 am. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 6901 Mackenzie Rd. St. Louis, Mo. 63123, immediately following.

God saw you getting weary

And he did what he thought best

He came and stood beside you

And whispered “come and rest”

You bid no one a fond farewell

Nor even said goodbye

You were gone before we knew it

And only God knows why

The family requests donations be made in memory of Barbara to (Go Fund Me) for Memorial Bench/Commemorative Plaque at Most Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Cedarhurst. All extra funds will be donated to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Alzheimer’s Association, and American Cancer Society in Barbara Margaret Winkler’s legacy.
