Woehr, Larry Albert

Larry Albert Woehr, who was born on September 21, 1949, in Saint Louis, Missouri,  passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019. Larry was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Albert Edward Woehr and Rea Christine nee McManmie Woehr. On October 30, 1949 He was baptized at Holy Cross Lutheran, St. Louis and on Palm Sunday 1963 at Peace Lutheran Church he confirmed his faith. He attended Peace Lutheran Elementary until it merged with Green Park Lutheran School from which he graduated in 1963. In 1967 he graduated from Mehlville High School. He enlisted in the Marines in September 1967 serving till 1971, being deployed  in Vietnam in 1968.He then served in the Navy from 1974 to 1977 where he was on a submarine in several countries. Larry was employed for 38 years as a maintenance supervisor for Shriners Childrens Hospital. He truly enjoyed working at Shriners, and the people he worked with. Larry was joined in marriage to Doris Milleville on November 5, 1983. They were blessed with two children, Kristin Elizabeth Woehr du Bruyn and Andrew Jacob Woehr. His favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. He also enjoyed being outdoors,riding his bike, reading, problem solving, and improving things. As a loving husband and father, and a diligent and conscientious employee, Larry will be remembered as a tranquil and unobtrusive soul who patiently and quietly responded to the needs of others in the workplace and most importantly the home. 

He experienced good health until being diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2017, after which he underwent surgical and therapeutic procedures. However, the cancer came back several times. On November 2, he was admitted to Missouri Baptist Medical Center where he remained until admission to Evelyn’s Hospice House on Saturday, November 9, 2019. It was there, that later that day at 6:07pm that he quietly departed this life at the age of 70,  surrounded by his loving family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Albert Edward and Rea Christine Woehr, St. Louis, MO, and his older sister Rea Marie Crain of Madison, AL.  Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Doris Woehr; their children, Kristin (Hentus) du Bruyn, of Busan, South Korea and Andrew Woehr of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his siblings: Duane (Jonette) Woehr, Diane Woehr, Vivian (Joe) Bollinger and Leonar (husband of deceased Rea nee Woehr). He is further survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry (Patricia) Milleville, Karen Dall, Kenneth (Judy) Milleville, Timothy (Deanna) Mileville and Randy (Rosa) Milleville as well as his uncle and aunt: Roger (Chris) McManmie. 

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Kutis Funeral Home South County. The funeral will take place at Peace Lutheran Church, 737 Barracksview Rd, St Louis, MO 63125. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with service to start at 10:30 a.m. Internment will take place, at a later date, in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund.

A luncheon will be provided in the gymnasium, after the service.
