Dennis Wood

In Loving Memory

Wood, Dennis M.

May 28, 1951 - December 20, 2025

Dennis M. Wood  age 74, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Saturday, December 20, 2025.  Dearest husband of Patrice “Pat” Lynch-Wood for 38 years; beloved dad of Victoria “Tori” Wood and Ryan Wood; dear son of the late Mary (nee: Ban) and Jesse Wood; loving brother of Nancy Wood, brother-in-law, honorary uncle, cousin, godfather and trusted friend.

Denny (known to many as “Chippy”) was an amazing husband, father, coach, mentor, and supporter of all those he cared about.  He was generous in donating his time to the church, coaching many of Tori and Ryan’s sports teams, and supporting any cause he believed in.  If not coaching, you could always find Denny in the stands as a great fan and supporter.  While he greatly enjoyed playing golf with his friends, he also had the patience to teach Tori and Ryan to play golf!

Always one to laugh or make others laugh, his smile and wit will always be remembered.  Wherever he went, he would undoubtedly find someone he knew, and the conversation often ended with both of them laughing.

He always loved music, as Tori and Ryan would attest to after having spent many road trips, to and from sporting events, listening to his favorites.

As his dementia progressed, music was one of the few things that could get a response.  While he could no longer effectively communicate, he was still able to enjoy singing or humming to his favorites.

Denny had dementia for the past 12 years, and had been in a nursing home (since he could no longer walk) for the past 4 years.  While he was mostly nonverbal, he would occasionally surprise us with a quip or two!

Dementia finally took its toll on Denny’s body, as well as his mind.  His last days were comfortable, and he peacefully moved on to that great 19th hole in the sky.

Services:  Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road Tuesday, January 6, 2026, 9:30am to Assumption Catholic Church for 10am Mass,  Inurnment Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Alzheimer’s Association / Research, appreciated.  Visitation (Denny’s Farewell Tour) Monday, January 5, 2026, 5-8pm.  .

Condolences

  1. Dear Pat, Tori and Ryan, though I met Denny only once, I feel as if I’ve known him well for more than 30 year – through all your wonderful stories, Pat. It is obvious how much he loved you all and I hope you take comfort in knowing he is at peace with our Lord (and perhaps playing a round or two of golf!)

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

    Love,
    Claudia
