In Loving Memory

Zancha, Damien Michael

March 20, 2006 - May 21, 2025

Damien Michael Zancha, age 19, of Highland, Illinois, passed away on May 22, 2025. Born on March 20, 2006, in Granite City, Illinois, at Gateway Medical Center, Damien was a shining light in the lives of everyone who had the blessing to know him.

A 2024 graduate of Highland High School, Damien was a young man full of promise, compassion, and purpose. He was a proud attendee of Mosaic Church, where his heart for others was deeply rooted in faith and kindness.

Damien had a deep love for fishing, sports, and being surrounded by the people he loved most. Known for his quick wit and big laugh, he brought joy wherever he went. He had a special gift for connecting with people—especially the outcasts and underdogs. He fiercely protected those who needed it most and never hesitated to make someone feel seen, valued, and loved.

He is survived by his loving mother Tiffany Zancha, his father Eric Lawson, and his siblings Eric Lawson Jr., Kamryn Lawson, Levi Lawson, and Jaxn Lawson. He also leaves behind his grandmothers Crystal Bass and Carol Cabay, and his grandfather David Lawson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that will all miss him dearly.

Damien was preceded in death by his grandfather Dennis Zancha and his brothers Kayson Lawson and Fred Moore.

Though his time here was brief, Damien’s legacy is immeasurable. He will be remembered for his humor, his heart, and the love he poured into everyone around him. He lived loudly, loved deeply, and leaves behind a community forever changed by his presence.
