Al-Kobri

In Loving Memory

Al-Kobri, Carol Ann

June 28, 1951 - September 30, 2024

Al-Kobri, Carol Ann on Monday, September 30th, 2024.  Devoted wife of the late Talal Al-Kobri; dear mother of Christina (Kevin) Preiser, Neil Al-Kobri, and Suzy (Tariq) Abouhashem; loving grandmother of Alex, Elizabeth and Allison Preiser and Amila Abouhashem; dear sister of Bill DuFour, Richard (Jannet) DuFour, and Stephanie (Bob) Slade; dear sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend to many.

Carol lived in Missouri all her life. She was married to Talal for 48 years. She had 3 kids and 4 grandchildren. She loved to spend time with family, especially the grandchildren. She was very kind, generous, thoughtful, sweet, fun, and funny.  She was the person everyone goes to in the family.  She had a variety of hobbies: she loved watching birds, reading, baking, traveling, crafting, playing cards with friends, participating in her ladies’ club activities and entertaining friends and family. She loved to help others. She was a Girl Scout leader, volunteered at St. Vincent’s Children’s Home, a PTA leader, Mom cab driver to various sports and activities and much, much more.

Carol joined the convent at the age of 13 and stayed through her high school years. Then she graduated from DePaul nursing school in 1971 for her nursing degree. She later went to Maryville and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1995. After this, she attended Saint Louis University and graduated with a Master’s degree as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner and a Master’s degree as Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2001.  Carol was always a very hard worker. While finishing her Master’s degree she worked for 2 years every Saturday in the ER for her clinical hours. She did all of this while raising a family, working a full-time job, and volunteering her time for various organizations.

Carol started her career at City Hospital. She worked at Barnes-Jewish in the OR and in Ophthalmology. She helped open St. Louis Eye Institute and Anheuser Bush Eye Institute Surgery Center. She retired from Saint Louis University Hospital as a Nurse Practitioner working in many different departments. She was also involved with ASORN (American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses) and held an officer position as the President for a few years.  Carol retired from St. Louis University Hospital in 2015.  Along the way she has made many life-long friends who adore her and still tell great stories about her strength, kindness, and humor.
