Bishop, Margie Lee (McDaniel)

In God’s Care. Born 9//1//38 in Cape Girardeau, MO to parents Verna (Proffer) and LeRoy McDaniel, who preceded her in death. Survived by husband and best friend of 60 years, Jerry Bishop.

Margie graduated from Bayless High School and received a Bachelors degree from Harris Teachers College. She taught at Sherman Elementary School.

A dedicated volunteer, Margie served as Board Chairman at the St. Louis Peregrine Society and volunteered at Missouri Baptist Medical Center.

An avid bowler, she served as Director, VP and President of the St. Louis Women’s Bowling Association; Director and VP of the Missouri State Women’s Bowling Association; Vice President of Missouri State USBC and  President of the Missouri State 600 Club. For her service to the game, she was elected to the St. Louis WBA Hall of Fame and the Missouri State USBC Hall of Fame.

For many years, Margie was a participant in Senior Olympics, earning numerous gold, silver and bronze medals at local and state levels as well as Gold and Silver medals at the National Senior Games.

For many years, she and Jerry were active members of Mehlville Baptist Church and later at First Baptist Church of Oakville.

Services: Funeral at Kutis South County (5255 Lemay Ferry) on Mon., 10//24, 11 a.m. Interment Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Louis Peregrine Society appreciated. Visitation at Kutis So. Co. on Sun., 4-8 p.m.

  1. Will miss you more than you know. Always looked forward to our “GANG” dinners. Had a great time. Thank you for getting me involved in the Peregrine Society. Enjoyed wrapping gifts at Christmas time for people who needed help. Also, thanks for getting me involved as a Director in the Women’s Bowling Association. We always had fun, a great time and many laughs when we went on bowling trips.

  3. Our sincere sympathy in the loss of Margie. As you know she was a faithful Christian and we admired her many qualities in leadership in church related positions as well as secular.
