In Loving Memory

Brand, Maureen Karen (nee Roach)

May 8, 1958 - July 19, 2025

It is with great sadness we share that Maureen passed away on Saturday, July 19th.

Beloved Wife of the late Larry Brand, Mother of Lindsay Brand and Emily Brand and Grandmother of Lucas Brand.  Daughter of the late Donald and Norma (nee Sincic), sister of Frank Roach and Dan Roach, Cassie her Puppy, Grandpuppies, many Cousins, Friends, Coworkers, and Patients.

Maureen’s amazing heart, compassion for others, selfless nature, room illuminating smile, laughter, funny commentary, commitment to Family, genuine interest in the lives of others, and abundance of love is a gift that will remain with all those in her life.  Maureen’s greatest joy is Lindsay, Emily, and Lucas and they all share an amazing bond of love, laughter, and Family.

Maureen worked as a Physical Therapist for over 40 years with an incredible passion and care for her patients and support for her coworkers.  She loved to celebrate life whether it was spending time with Family and Friends, playing with her pups, fishing, vacationing, going out to dinner, shopping, attending games and events to show support, providing funny thoughts and moments, and just being there for everyone around her.

In lieu of Flowers, donations to St. Louis Pet Rescue Network, in Maureen’s name, would be a great way to honor Maureen and the animals she loved throughout her life.

  1. To the Family:

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. As neighbors, she was kind and helpful to me especially during the times I really needed it and didn’t want to ask. It was as though she just intuitively knew. She loved my cat. I will miss our conversations about the herd of deer that travels between our houses and our mutual concern for their well being but most of all I will just miss her easy way of being who she was; a kind and calming force.
My heart is with you all during this time

  7. Barb and I are profoundly saddened by the loss of Maureen, whose unwavering kindness and compassion touched everyone she met. She lived her life with quiet strength, always placing the feelings and wellbeing of others above her own.

Maureen’s greatest joys were found in the simple things: the laughter of her family, the comforting presence of her beloved dogs, and the moments of connection she shared with those around her. Her humility, caring nature, and generous heart created a legacy that lives on in all who were lucky enough to know her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Would you like to add details like her age, place of birth, survivors, or any special accomplishments or anecdotes? I can help revise or expand it as much as you need.

  11. I’m the first cousin of Lindsay and Emily and though I grew up far from Missouri, I would occasionally visit with my family—and every time, I felt a deep sense of love and acceptance from Aunt Maureen, Lindsay, Emily, and Uncle Larry. Even as a young child, that feeling stayed with me.

One memory that stands out is spending time with you all—Lindsay, Emily, and Aunt Maureen—and how, even as the shy kid I was, I felt so genuinely welcomed. I remember us bonding over musicals—was it Rent? I’m not entirely sure—but what I do remember clearly is how seen and included I felt. That meant a great deal to me, especially as someone who often felt rejected by peers growing up. The warmth and kindness you showed me during those too-few visits left a lasting impression.

Because of the distance, we never had the chance to grow especially close—but my admiration for both of you has always remained. I’ve long held a deep respect for your strength, your groundedness, and the grace with which you carry so much. Losing a parent is a pain I know personally, and it grieves me that you’ve had to endure the loss of both of yours, along with the many other hardships you’ve walked through.

Everyone who knows you is truly blessed—and Lucas is especially blessed to have you as his mother, Lindsay.

I wish we lived closer so I could be more present in your lives. But even from afar, please know that my thoughts, prayers, and heart are with you. Though distant, I—and my wife Alyssa, Aunt Carey, and Troy—am here for you in any way we can be.

    With all my love,
    Jason Skaggs
