  1. One of the best brothers a guy could hope to have! Not perfect, but close enough for me! Death stopped a gentle heart, but the angels know he needs to sleep with the lambs! Good night sweet brother, save the lower bunk for me!

  3. My dear little brother, life will be much lonelier without you. You were a kind and sweet brother to me. I love you and always knew you loved me. I know we will reunite someday, and I’ll be waiting for a big hug from you. Take a rest for now, and revel in the fact you were were loved by your family, your brothers, sisters and your friends. 7. Patrick was the youngest of the four Porter boys born to Howard and Genevieve Porter and the only one not to pursue a career in the military. However, he did serve his county and I salute him for his service to our country in the Navy. It is a tradition in the Navy to wish a fellow sailor fair winds and following seas as he passes his time with us that I now wish my brother, Patrick, fair winds and following seas always.

  9. The world seems a little quieter now. When I see the wind brushing up against the trees, I will always think of you. I love you Uncle Pat.

  11. Patrick made a yearly trek to our home in ND which usually coincided with our daughters coming home to visit. They enjoyed hearing the stories of Uncle Pat and their Dad’s upbringing in Blackjack, Mo. Through these visits, he got to know our ND friends. They were always gracious and invited us for dinner while he visited. He came to expect an invite. “Are we going over to have dinner with Jack and Sadie?” “Is Ken having a bonfire?” On Saturday morning’s, “I need to have coffee with your Dad.” Dad passed away on October 1at and one of my last conversations with him, he asked me where Tim was? I told him Tim was in St. Louis with Patrick and that Pat was dying. A tear trickled down his cheek. We will miss his visits but I know Dad was there to greet him last week.

  13. Happy that we were able to reconnect at our 50th high school reunion. I’ve followed your daughter’s posts on FB and, if I don’t know anything else, I know that you were loved! I’m sorry that the whole “Patrick Bumb for President 2020” didn’t work out….maybe next time!
My Deepest Sympathy for your Family and Friends
    Rest in Peace, Patrick.

  17. I think I served with Patrick on the U.S.S Hawkins. We drove his mazda through a snow storm to get back to St. Louis. He was a great guy and shipmate.
