Maureen Butler

In Loving Memory

Butler, Maureen P. “Mo” (nee Farren)

December 13, 1960 - October 12, 2025

On Sunday, October 12, 2025, Maureen “Mo” Butler peacefully passed away at the age of 64 surrounded by her family.

Mo was born on December 13, 1960 in Brooklyn, NY to James “Jim” and Phyllis (Caffrey) Farren. She’s the eldest of her siblings, Regina, and the late James Farren Jr.

After her family moved a few times throughout her childhood, Mo found her place in Saint Louis. She was a proud alumni of Cor Jesu Academy and Missouri State University.

Throughout her life, Mo has been a hard working woman juggling multiple jobs, always with a smile and no complaints. She was kind hearted and if you told her one detail about yourself, she remembered it. Her love language was gift giving and those around her knew it.

She could beat anyone at Yahtzee, often times doing the math for everyone around the table at lightning speed. Mo loved her girls trips, spending time at the beach, enjoying a cold beer, surprising friends and family with food from work at Psghettis, and of course, her Saint Louis Cardinals.

Mo is survived by her four children, Kyle Butler, Abby (Gregory) Bollasina, Lucy (Conner) Manley, Elly (Connor) Miller, her sister Regina (Ted) Pimmel, her two grandchildren, Vinny and Kane Bollasina, her nieces, Molly and Shannon Pimmel, step mom, Andrea Hersey, and hundreds of friends along the way.

A mass to honor Mo will be held on November 6, 2025 at Seven Holy Founders at 3:00 pm (6741 Rock Hill Rd Saint Louis, MO 63123). Mo always wanted a big party, so a celebration of life will take place immediately following mass at The Christy from 4:00 – 8:00 pm (5856 Christy Blvd Saint Louis, MO 63116).

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or be sure to tip your server in cash, one of Mo’s life rules.

  1. Mo loved life and her family & her friends! I met Mo at college but become good friends when she walked into Ron & Shirleys with Kyle & Abby looking for a job. That was 35 years ago & as long as I’ve known her she has worked several jobs rately saying no when asked to work. I’m so blessed to have had her in our inner circle all these years & I will forever cherish our girl weekends at the Lake. Especially this last one. She will forever be a part of us and there will never be another like her. We love you Mo Mo forever❤️

  3. I’m so sorry to hear of Maureen’s passing. She was such a wonderful person, and I will always remember her as my “work mother” from the Cafe’ days. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family during this difficult time.

  4. Mo was a very special, kind, warm person who loved life. We met at a difficult time in both of our lives and became very good friends. Traveling to Hawaii for a week, bowling, concerts, etc., – no matter when and when – it was always a great time. She loved her family and was so proud of all of them.

Rest, my dear friend – you are missed but will always remain in our hearts. Deepest sympathy to her children and sister.

  5. Mo touched so many lives. She gave me my first job as a 15 year old hostess at Cafe Manhattan. She taught me so much about the restaurant industry and life. She will be deeply missed.

  6. Mo was a beautiful person inside and out. I have sooo many memories of all of our times together with our group, lake trips, glamping, Florida, Alabama…. She is going to be greatly missed. It’s hard to think of making new memories and her not being a part of them but we will forever hold her deeply in our hearts. Rest in peace my friend. I love you.❤️

  7. I am so sad to hear about Mo. She was always such a giving person and she was so funny. I wish I could attend her Celebration of Life, but alas, I am currently undergoing chemo and avoiding large gatherings. Of course, I know Mo’s celebration of life will likely be standing room only, as she always seemed to know everybody. So to all of her family and friends, you are in my thoughts and I’ll be thinking of Mo in the days to come.
