Byerly

In Loving Memory

Byerly, Madonna June

Madonna June Byerly (Grus), 67, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 4, 2022 after a long and hard fought battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Donna  was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Shirley Grus. She is survived by her husband, Ken Byerly; children, Jesse Byerly, Nikki Gwinnell, Alissa Day, Lindsey Rithner, Ian Byerly; her siblings, Barry Grus and Karen Marquart; and 7 grandchildren.

Donna was a devoted wife, mother, and follower of Jesus Christ whose deep faith influenced every aspect of her life. She worked very hard to provide a supportive environment for her children to grow in loving each other and the Lord. From homeschooling, serving in the local church, and at times working a full time job, Donna was strong and determined. Holidays were her favorite time to see the family gathered around the table again and hear laughter fill the house. Donna rarely sat still and was always placing the needs of others above her own. It would literally take ALS to slow her down. We celebrate her life and the hope we have in the eternal life provided by our Lord.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kutis Funeral Home, 10151 Gravois, St. Louis, MO.  Service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, starting at 10:30 a.m. at Kutis Funeral Home.

  15. My sincerest condolences to the Byerly family. I never had the pleasure of meeting Donna in person, as I only talked with her on the phone when we participated in a online writing program. I remember her as being full of life, creative, encouraging and generous. I’m sorry for the loss of this wonderful person too early.

  19. I just heard the news. Im so very sorry. I did your mom’s hair for a little over a decade. She was just a delight! She taught me a lot over the years. Just hearing her stories of her family, life and work. She was a good person, incredibly patient and understanding. I hoped her graces would rub off on me! We had some good laughs over the years, too! I really liked your mom and enjoyed her appointments. I can’t imagine the hole this has left in your family. She always talked so lovingly of you all. Such a proud mom and grandmother. I’m so sorry for your loss.
