Mickey passed away on Monday, September 4th, 2023.
Beloved husband of Suzanne “Suzy” Cipponeri (nee Shirley); dear father of Anna Marie Cipponeri, Claire (Brent) Trunko, Lori (Kevin) LaMontagne, and the late Julie Cipponeri; dear grandfather of Payton, Zoe, Colin, Ava, Katie, and Tripp; dear brother of Richard (Maria) Cipponeri; our dear great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Mickey was born and raised in St. Louis, MO and this was his home. He spent two years as a Military Policeman in the United States Army at Fort Ord in California. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and certified as an Expert Rifleman.
Throughout his life, he rarely walked into a room where he didn’t see a friend or make a new one. He was larger than life and lived it fully. He made the most of every day – ordering the biggest pizza on the menu, playing tennis, basketball, and golf, helping someone move, grabbing the kids for a day trip, putting blankets out to watch a meteor shower in summer, or a rare pina colada on the beach. He made every day a memorable experience and knew how to have FUN.
Mickey will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts and spirits of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation in memory of Julie Cipponeri or to the National Brain Tumor Society in memory of Mickey are greatly appreciated.
SERVICES: Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON Chapel 10151 Gravois, Thursday September 14, 10:30 AM until services at 12:30 PM.
Interment JB National Cemetery.
So sorry that Mickey’s enormous presence has left this earth, but I do know that he is having fun and enjoying not being unhealthy and being so dependent. He was a sweet guy, especially to me when we were in eighth grade despite his personal troubles. His presence will surely be missed by those closest to him.
How wonderful to read this and know that this precious man was just as special in his younger years. You described him perfectly -enormous presence. I love it! Your note is so appreciated!
I loved taking care of Mickey and visiting with Suzanne. I loved his smile and he would get the biggest one when we would sing Hey Mickey your so fine. Prayers to all the family
Monica, thank you so much for your note and for caring for Mickey with such excellence and compassion!! Thank you for being there for me always available for any question I might have. You have my sincere appreciation!!
Before Mickey moved over into St Joan of Arc Parish he lived across the street from our family on Bancroft Ave. All of us kids growing up in the neighborhood played together. Mickey was usually playing with my brother, Michael and the other guys that age in the neighborhood. I’ll always remember his smile and pranks. He was entertaining to say the least and a joy to be around.
It was a blessing to have known ya, Mick.
RIP Mickey!
We appreciate your words. I think he was a joy to everyone he knew!
Thanks for your thoughts. I love hearing about his young years!
Mick, was one guy that could make you smile, then laugh and be a friend to everyone he met or crossed his path in life. I wish there more people like him in this world!!!!
Also, a special athlete in any sport he tried and loved.
He will be missed by the ones closest to him and those that just crossed his path in life.
Dennis Winter (SJA class of 1063).
You are right. Never met a stranger. He treated everyone equally and he was such a happy person. Loved life and people!!
Mick was a blast from the past, worked with Mick at Monsanto. Enjoyed playing basketball and golf with him. Mick and Joe V. was some of the best entertainment since Martin and Lewis. May he rest in peace and hold court in heaven

Thanks so much for posting your memory!
There are many things that come to mind to pay tribute to Mick. I was in the SJA class behind him and got to know him well through all the other guys in his class. Mick always treated me with dignity and respect, like one of the guys. But, what I remember the most is he never failed to make me laugh. RIP my friend.
Thank you for your thoughts!
I feel so fortunate to have grown up with this special person. He taught me to value experiences and people over things. Belongings only matter if they enrich life or make the day brighter. Despite the disagreements a parent and child have, he always supported me and loved unconditionally. If I made a stupid decision to stay out too late and got lost, he’d still take my call and know exactly how to tell me to get back on the road home (and ground me later). He treated me like his own and showed me how to love all people, never hate food, take time to look at the stars, enjoy making fun of all politicians (SNL), and live each day like it’s your last. Always in my heart.
Sweet memories! ❤️
I just thought about this fun loving man from 45 years ago when I worked at Monsanto as a summer college student. I only worked with him for three months, but he left a huge impression and some fond memories. We went to play tennis after work one day and he ran me in circles and put on a tennis clinic, even though I was 10 years younger. Afterwards we had some pizza and some good laughs. Glad to see he had such an impact on so many others.
Thank you so sharing. That was Mickey!!!
