(nee Bovyn) went to her heavenly home Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, the day after her 99th birthday, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church. She was looking forward to rejoining late members of her beloved family.
Lucille was born Sept. 20, 1920, in south St. Louis to Herman and Henrietta Bovyn. They preceded her in death. Lucille married Joseph Martin Conroy on May 1, 1948; he preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Henrietta (Clarence). Lucille is survived by a brother, Herman J. Bovyn Jr. (Mary), of Mesa, Arizona.
She is also survived by two sons, Gregory (Valerie), and Patrick (Louise), six grandchildren: Jennifer, Matthew (Alexee), John Patrick (Claire), Maggie (fiancé Chuck), Julia (Brent) and Claire; four great-grandchildren: A. Quinn Conroy, Rima Catriona Conroy, Ciarín Fionn Conroy, and Estelle Louise Hagan; beloved aunt, great-aunt and cousin.
SERVICES: Visitation at Kutis on Gravois Road, in Affton, from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25; then a funeral mass at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Kingshighway and Rhodes Avenue, St. Louis. A prayer service begins at 10:30 a.m. at Kutis, followed by the funeral at the church and ending in the interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
After raising two boys, Lucille and her husband, Joe, joined her sister, Henrietta (Nettie) and Clarence in various activities including the Affton Senior Citizens Kitchen Band, playing for conventions, nursing homes and other senior centers. They would also perform in musical skits, singing old standards; in addition, the four of them formed the Crickets, a send-up of The Beatles, mimicking pop tunes of the day.
