Passed away on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025
Beloved wife of the late Eugene “Gene” Diers for over 64 years; loving mother of Thomas, Michael, and David (Sharon). Devoted grandmother of 6: Alexandria, Sydnie, Tanner, Grace, Andrew, and Faith; dear sister, aunt and friend to many.
Charleen was born and raised in St. Louis MO. She attended Markus Lutheran Church and grade school, and the original Lutheran High School in North St. Louis. After graduating from high school in 1957, she and Gene were married on December 20th, 1958, because she always wanted a Christmas wedding. Our parents loved to travel, having visited all 50 states and multiple foreign countries. They always put each other first in their lives.
Charleen always tried to better herself through life and knew education was the answer. She graduated from Jefferson College with an Associate Degree in 1977, and from Webster University with her Bachelor of Arts in 1994. Along the way she also earned her Paralegal Certificate to help advance her career in the legal departments at both Peabody Coal Company and Anheuser-Busch.
Charleen’s calling was always to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. She attended Concordia University to become a deaconess in the Lutheran Church. She was consecrated on November 4th, 2001 by the Lutheran Deaconess Association of Valparaiso, Indiana.
Charleen always had a smile on her face and a kind word for anyone she encountered. She once started a program at her church to help the homeless. They would make “Blessing Bags” to give some food and a bible verse to brighten a homeless persons day. She particularly enjoyed visiting the elderly at area retirement homes so a lonely person had a friend to talk to. She never stopped giving of herself for the Lord.
Services: Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 11:00am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 3715 Jeffco Boulevard, Arnold, MO 63010. Visitation beginning at 9:30am at St. John’s.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the St. John’s Lutheran Church building campaign or the charity of your choice.
