In Loving Memory

Dooley, Scarlett Nicole

July 24, 2017 - February 24, 2026

Scarlett Nicole Dooley, age 8, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous seven-year battle with childhood cancer.

Scarlett was born on July 24, 2017, and from the very beginning she filled the world around her with light, laughter, and a spirit far beyond her years. Though her life was far too short, Scarlett’s strength, bravery, and joyful heart touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a true warrior whose courage inspired countless people throughout her journey.

Scarlett loved life in the pure and beautiful way only a child can. She found joy in simple moments—time with her family, visiting her favorite places, and sharing smiles and laughter with the people she loved most. Even through years of treatments and hospital stays, Scarlett remained full of warmth and kindness, bringing comfort and happiness to those around her.

She is deeply loved and will be forever missed by her devoted parents, Gunnar and Alexandra Dooley, who never left her side; her cherished siblings, Violett (5), Asher (3), and baby Jade (3 months); her uncles Ayden Armstrong, Jadon Williams, Jett Dooley, Kyle Dooley, and Taylor Dooley; and her aunts Jordyn McColgan and Scout Dooley.

Scarlett is also lovingly remembered by her grandparents Elizabeth Exum Dooley, affectionately known as “EDEE,” Grandpa Cort Dooley, Papa Jason and Gram-Gram Jenny McColgan, and Papa Tim and Nana Lindsey Williams, along with many great-grandparents, great-great-grandparents, extended family members, and countless friends who adored her.

Her family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate doctors, nurses, and staff at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, who loved and cared for Scarlett as if she were their own. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort and strength to Scarlett and her family throughout her journey.

Though Scarlett’s time on earth was far too brief, the love she gave and the courage she showed will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her. The world is dimmer without her bright light, but heaven shines brighter with its newest angel. Scarlett leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and courage that will never fade.

  2. Esdee,

I loved everything about you—your beautiful smile and your little freckles, especially the two right under your left eye.

I will forever cherish the time I was blessed to spend with you, especially the quiet moments sitting with you in the hospital (that sometimes weren’t so quiet), holding your little hand, kissing your tiny feet and your sweet little forehead.

I chuckle remembering how you waited until I had finally gotten comfortable before asking for your salami and cheese plate—your own little mini charcuterie board. Those simple moments mean everything to me.

Having you as my granddaughter was one of the greatest honors of my life.

Until I get to kiss your little feet again, my sweet girl.

    • Liz, your love for your sweet and courageous Scarlet is felt. I remember the first pictures you shared after this amazing little girl was born and the love and pride you felt for her. I know she fought hard and was so strong. Her love for all of you was evident. I am praying for your hearts to be comforted knowing she is running and playing and chasing butterflies with Jesus now after her hard battle. Sending hugs and prayers for you all.
