Eddington, John Joseph

January 21, 1959 - October 22, 2025

John Joseph Eddington peacefully passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 66. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on January 21, 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald J. Eddington; his mother, Mildred (Holtgrewe) Eddington; and his brother, Thomas J. Eddington.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary (Dennison) Eddington; his children, Catelyn E. Eddington and John J. Eddington Jr.; as well as his extended family members, including siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John served as the Right-of-Way Manager for the St. Louis County Department of Transportation and was employed with St. Louis County for 39 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and fitness enthusiast known for his friendly nature and ability to connect with others. His family finds comfort in knowing his legacy lives on through the life lessons he taught, the love he showed through his actions, and the memories they will cherish forever.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, 15 Forest Knoll Drive, Fenton, MO 63026 on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. followed by lunch at The Post Sports Bar & Grill in Dierbergs Crossing.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital St. Louis.

  2. John was a genuinely good person who was always kind to others. It was a blessing to know him. My deepest condolences to his family. I hope that your happy memories with him will give you comfort during this very difficult time.

  3. John was such a spiritual man. I know that he’s in Heaven and missed by his family and friends. I had several conversations with him about our shared faith and belief.
    John had Humility. John will be remembered and missed. It was such a honor to have known him. God bless his family.

    Harika just let me know about your husband. I am so very sorry. I am out of town on the date of his service, otherwise I would be there. You are in my prayers. Sending you love and hugs.

  5. I’ll miss his famous slogan every time we seen each other. He would say “How’s The County Treating You”, and I would say the same as yesterday. Then he would say, well hang in there my friend. We would both laugh, and go our separate ways. He was a cool down to earth guy. He will be greatly missed.
