In Loving Memory

Eddy, Rita Faye

Eddy, Rita Faye  (nee Coyle) fortified with the Sacraments of Baptism, Confession, Communion, Confirmation, Marriage and Anointing of the Sick, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, in the presence of family following a brief stay at the de Greef Hospice House in South St. Louis County, Missouri.

Rita was born on February 26, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri to John and Agnes Coyle (nee Dinham). She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 60 years, Charles N. Eddy, and her children Mark Eddy, Matthew Eddy (Jill), Julia Minden (Dan), Charles S. Eddy (Kelly), and Laurence Eddy (Vicki) along with 11 cherished grandchildren – Ethan, Stella, Danny, Addison, Emma, Henry, Charlie, Carson, Holly, Nicholas and Joshua. She also leaves behind her younger sister Mary Ellen Brown and husband Morris Brown, sisters-in-law Carol Eddy, Mary Ellen Wescovich, and Judy Eddy, brother-in-law Gene Wescovich, many nieces, nephews and cousins, a large extended family, and several wonderful friends. Rita was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Robert Eddy.

Rita’s greatest loves were her family, Catholic faith and many friends. Born amidst the Great Depression and growing up during World War II, Rita instilled a tremendous work ethic in her children and was fiercely proud of their accomplishments. Instead of sending “thoughts and prayers” when someone needed love and support, Rita would pray the Rosary for everyone, whether they be a close friend, family member or perfect stranger.

Rita enjoyed knitting, playing cards with her friends, and family dinners. She lovingly knitted afghans and blankets for many years giving them to family and friends. Her afghans were intricate, beautiful, and specially designed for each person. These blankets continue to keep us warm and remind us of the love and tenderness she gave to all who knew her. Although she will be sadly and profoundly missed, Rita’s family and friends can take comfort in knowing that she left this world a much better and brighter place than she found it.

A memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, Rita’s family kindly asks that you reach out to someone you love and check in on them during this uncertain and challenging time of need, and be sure to thank our front line care givers, service providers, and police and military personnel in any way possible. A Kutis South County Service.
