Hallemann, Rev. John Lawrence Raymond, Baptized into the hope of Christ’s Resurrection, on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Fr. Hallemann was born to Joseph and Emily (nee Kanngieser) Hallemann on December 28, 1929 in New Haven, MO. He attended St. Francis Borgia Elementary School in Washington, MO grades K-3. In 1937 his family moved to Port Hudson, MO where he completed his elementary education at Holy Family Parish School. He graduated from St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington, MO in 1947. That fall he entered Cardinal Glennon Preparatory Seminary in St. Louis, MO. On March 26, 1955 he was ordained a priest from Kenrick Seminary by then Archbishop Joseph Ritter at the St. Louis New Cathedral. He served as Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Wilhelmina, MO, St. John the Baptist Parish in Gildehaus, MO, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Louis, and St. Rose of Lima in DeSoto, MO. He was Pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Park Hills, MO, St. Rose of Lima, DeSoto, MO and St. Vincent de Paul Church in Dutzow, MO. In June of 1992, he was assigned Senior Associate of Queen of All Saints in Oakville, MO. He retired June 30, 2004 and went to live at the St. Agnes Home in St. Louis on July 6, 2005 and later moved to the Mother of Good Counsel Home on December 28, 2015.
Fr. John served from 1973 to 1988 as Archdiocesan Rural Life Director. During most of the time, he was also a member of the Missouri Catholic Conference. He also served 3 terms on the Archdiocesan Permanent Deaconate Committee and the Human Rights Commission. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the Washington, MO Elks Lodge. Fr. John loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Fr. Hallemann is survived by one sister, Juanita Sternberg of Oran, MO, a sister-in-law Mary Ann Hallemann of Florissant, MO, nephews, great-nephews, nieces, great nieces and many friends.
Services: Visitation at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 6603 Christopher Road, St. Louis, 63129, on Friday, March 10, from 9:00 AM until mass time at 11:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Masses and donations to Mother of Good Counsel Home, preferred. A Kutis South County Chapel Service.
