Mary Ann Helbig

In Loving Memory

Helbig, Mary Ann (nee Epstein)

July 21, 1934 - February 16, 2024

Mary Ann Helbig, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed peacefully into Heaven on February 16, 2024. She is survived by her 5 children: Julie (Scott) Zipfel; Mike; Mary (Drew) Nardi; Joe (Gina); and Bob (Melissa) and 10 grandchildren: Brenden, Connor, Emily, Mackenzie, Chad, Matthew, Julia, Bradley, Maya, and Faith.

Mary Ann was born on July 21, 1934 in St. Louis. During high school, she excelled on the debate team and in singing and acting.  After graduation from Notre Dame High School in 1952, Mary Ann took correspondence courses to learn shorthand so she could enter the workforce as a secretary.

She married Robert Helbig in November of 1963, and they were able to start a family right away. As her children grew, she was a staunch advocate for their welfare. She loved her children deeply and spent quality time with them whenever possible. Eventually her children married and she became a grandmother, a role that she embraced with joy.  Mary Ann’s passion for singing continued throughout her life. Her many family members all enjoyed hearing her sing Happy Birthday every year.

Mary Ann had a heart of gold, and never knew a stranger. She was a firm believer in giving to others, and she taught her children to do the same. We will all miss her and keep her in our hearts forever.
