  1. Dear Hencken family,

Our prayers are with you for the passing of your mother. My mom always said her favorite line with your mother was….” I would have not missed this life for the world”. What a great blessing she was as my mother’s best friend. We praise God for the gift of her to our family and the world. I regret that I will be gone for the funeral but know we will be joining you in prayer.

  2. Pat was part of my life since my infancy 70 years ago.
Pat was my mother’s closest lifelong Friend dating back to their high school days.
Pat was the Matchmaker who introduced my mother and father on a blind date. Pat was my Godmother who never forgot to send a kind birthday note over seven decades.
Pat was a beloved honorary Aunt to myself and my siblings in a family that otherwise had no aunts.
Pat’s children were my childhood playmates on special occasions. Pat’s grief at the sudden death of her eldest son became my first introduction to the fragility of life.
Pat’s alert mind and strong body well into her 90s filled me with amazement and hope that it somehow might not end.
I will miss Pat’s lilting voice and her presence in the world. Pat’s was a long life lived well.

  3. I moved on “K” street almost 40 yrs ago and have been fortunate to know and love The Hencken’s. Over time, my relationship with Pat grew and I was ever so blessed to experience her sense of humor and perspectives much more intimately. Pat radiated kindness and genuine compassion. Her experiences provided wisdom but she remained humble. Never assuming and always
gracious. I have deeply missed my friend since her move from “K” and was always excited to see her drive down K after she moved or visit her at the new place. I felt special when with her and an emotional connection I will cherish. I am deeply thankful for the joy in knowing Pat. RIP dear Lady and thank you. I continue to miss you

  4. I am so sorry to hear this. I met Pat 20 or so years ago when she volunteered at Mercy and we stayed in touch over the years. I will always cherish meeting up for lunch to gossip. She was always so fun & witty! Her friendship meant to me more than she will ever know. We will all miss you Pat. XOXO
