In Loving Memory

Hill, Kevin E.

1/11/60 – 10/20/2022

After a long and courageous battle with cancer our beloved husband and brother, Kevin Hill, went to live with his Heavenly Father on October 20, 2022. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Edward W. Hill and Norma L. Hill (nee Myers). He is survived by his wife Rebecca Hill (nee Swett), sisters Debbie (Dave) McCubbins; Pam (Carl) Mathews; Karlotta (Karl) Keppel; and brother Mike (Donna) Scholtes.  Caring Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Kevin was born in St. Louis Mo. and went to elementary school at St. Margaret of Scotland. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1978 and studied Music at Fontbonne College and University of New Orleans.  As a talented musician and beloved teacher Kevin made a wonderful career teaching students and playing in many local bands including Prowler, Cagney, The Adam’s Edge, PettyCash and most recently That80sBand.

His love of fishing along with travel and music brought him together with many amazing people he called friends. We will keep his memory alive by sharing many stories and adventures together.

He lived life to the fullest. And the beat goes on….

Service: Memorial visitation at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois Rd. St. Louis MO 63123 on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 9-10 am, with a Celebration of Life at 10:00 am. 11. Loved Hearing Kevin play his soft jazz when last you visited us in Memphis. Music binds us together just as it did the two of you.
May the song go on! Aunt Connie and Uncle Rick Swett

  15. Kevin was my piano teacher at Mozingo Muisc for 10 years. I’m forever grateful to him for teaching me. I still have several notebooks and pieces of music with his notes written in them, and I hope to one day pass along what he taught me to my daughter. I am terribly sorry to hear about his passing. He was always very supportive and encouraging in my lessons. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher.

  17. When I retired I decided to buy a piano and take lessons vs. the do-it-yourself method. The guys at Mozingo recommended Kevin and so began my journey for the next 2 1/2 years. We quickly developed a great rapport and besides my learning from a great teacher, we enjoyed talking about the music scene, gear, and life in general. I was wise enough to video some of the lessons and I will always have those to remember Kevin by. My wife and I even went to see him with The 80s Band a couple of times…alway fun! During that time he had just started treatments so I was aware of his health challenges. Kevin impressed me both as a teacher and human being. We all have those people in our lives who have made a positive impact at some point and Kevin is indeeds one of those people. My condolences go to Becky…I will miss him!

  19. We knew Kevin as an incredible piano teacher, but more importantly as a dear friend. My oldest son always looked up to him. Words cannot express how much we will miss him.
    Becky,
We will miss all of the time we spent together at the lake with you both! Kevin never settled for anything but the best; no wonder he chose you. We love you and are praying for you!

  25. I’ll never forget Kevin’s attention and concern for our “Uncle Bill,” including being with Bill the afternoon he died. I’ll also always remember him telling me about an evening at Bill and “Aunt Betty’s” home (“#1 Oakrail”) after they both had passed: Kevin was leading the effort to organize and disperse all of Bill and Betty’s memorabilia, golf clubs(!), photos and such. He found a few hundred bucks stashed behind or under something, and suddenly, he did not feel that he was alone! Another “spirit” or whatever was accompanying him! Kevin said it raised a few hairs on his neck! A lovely man, Kevin.

  27. Heartbroken hearing about Kevin’s passing. Whenever we would see Kevin, he would be so positive and personal with me, and Kathleen and he always made people feel good. Not to mention he was a stellar entertainer, player & teacher. We’ll miss him. May he rest in peace. Becky, I’m so sorry for you and your family’s loss. Steve & Kathleen
