Carl was born in Portage des Sioux, Missouri, on August 26, 1926. When he was five years old, his family moved to St. Charles where he attended St. Peter Grade and High Schools. In 1944 he entered the U.S. Army where he served as a T/Sgt. in the Corps of Engineers during World War II. Following that conflict, he served in Army occupation duty in Korea. After his discharge he was employed for seven years at Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad, and 38 years with Southwestern Freight Bureau; a railroad rate organization where he worked his way up to the position of Assistant to the Chairman, which he held until the company’s relocation to Chicago. He spent the final four years of his career working for Union Pacific Railroad in St. Louis.
Upon his marriage to Emily Rolwes of Florissant in 1953, the couple purchased their first home in Ferguson where they resided for 43 years and Carl served on the city council before moving to Affton in 1996. Carl was a former member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Ferguson and at the time of his death attended Little Flower Church in Richmond Heights. He was a life-long Catholic who faithfully frequented the sacraments.
Visitation on Friday, November 13, from 10-11 a.m. at Little Flower Church in Richmond Heights, followed by a Traditional Latin Rite Mass at 11 a.m. Internment at St. Ferdinand Cemetary in Florissant. Masses are requested in lieu of flowers. Donations to Little Flower Church or Mother of Good Counsel Home would also be appreciated.
Carl was a great man and father. He will certainly be missed. Our prayers are with the family.

Every time I pray the rosary it reminds me of your dad, saying it before 5:00 mass at Guadalupe. So sorry for your loss

Hi Dad
Think about you every day. All the times I would help you around the house, recording council meetings when you were our of town, rummage sales and Montrey’s.
Thank you for the hugs and tender moments when I was upset and you would tell me how God loves me just as I am.
I love you, Dad ❤❤
