Pamela Mary Jean Young arrived in America on Thanksgiving Day, 1946, a war bride from Weston-super-Mare, a seaside town in Somerset, England. She married John R. LaRowe, a Navy radar specialist from St. Louis, in New York City on Dec. 2. One of her proudest achievements was earning her US citizenship in 1952.
Pam helped John build a successful TV repair business and was a long-time member of Kingshighway Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, worked tirelessly at the food pantry, sang in the choir and even led congregational singing. Pam (99) died July 17 after living with dementia for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents Arthur & Anne Young and sister Joan Thomas. She is survived by her only son Brooks (Ginger) and granddaughters Sally LaRowe (Dan Anderson) and Mary Jane Stewart.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff at The Arbors at Mattis Pointe for loving and caring for Pam for the past six years.
