In Loving Memory

Lenze, Robert “Lem”

Robert “Lem” Lenze, 67, died Friday, January 25, 2019 at his longtime home in Saint Louis Hills following a year-long fight with pancreatic cancer. He leaves his wife of 42 years, Jamie: his sons, Joshua (Anne), Matthew (Jennifer), Timothy (Brittany), daughter, Caitlin (James) and granddaughters, Emma and Ava.

Born and raised on a farm in New Haven, MO, he was the son of Henry and Barbara Lenze, brother of Mary Ann (Meyer) and Bernice (Smith). At a young age, he moved to Saint Louis to  enter the seminary. Although his unwavering faith continued to be a defining part of his life, he ultimately left the seminary to focus on what was to become his true calling, his family. He married Jamie in 1976 and after a myriad of short-lived  “careers”, he graduated with a law degree from Saint Louis  University in 1981. After paying his dues at a law firm for over 15 years, he opened up his own law firm in order to be home for dinner every night.

An active member of the Saint Gabriel’s Parish for almost 30 years, he could often be found volunteering, participating in “Beads and Beer” and prayer groups, coaching his children’s  incredibly mediocre basketball teams and leading ACTS  retreats.

Bob was a humble, warm and funny man that inspired many of those around him to become closer to God. More than anything,

he was a good man that was always aspiring to be a better man.

Timothy 2: 4-7. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
