  5. To the Leslie boys and Bev. While it saddens me to hear of the loss of your dad and husband, I have so many fond memories of Carle (Mr. Leslie always to me) that though this sadness it makes me reflect on how so many good times! As your neighbor across the street growing up, how many thousands of times I would come over to your house and was always welcome in your home. You had the best outdoor basketball court in the area, even though as youngsters Patti Sutton would kick our ass on the court until we got older and taller than she was. In the winter your dad would “freeze over” the court and we would play hockey until dark then put on the lights for outdoor hockey. Your dad use to take us on the weekend to the Meramec club house for an afternoon of fun by the river. As we got older and learn to drive through high school and college we “borrowed” so many beers and liquor from Carle’s stash I wonder if he ever knew. Unfortunately he drank Falstaff beer and that was terrible, but we drank it anyway. The days going to Afton sports field and ice rink he drag us all out there many times a week. The crawdad fishing we did with the “liver bait” was so much fun, but I really hated eating those things. Without cell phones, and video games we spent some many days playing sports around your house and in the field. Your dad was always there for you boys and us neighbor kids too. I owe Carle many thanks for all he did for all of us, and will tip a beer or have a ” gin bucket ” in his honor on Saturday. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during these difficult times, but a smile is on my face just thinking of all the wonderful time’s spent with Carle and the Leslie family. Dave Ehrhardt

  7. Mark, Steve and Kevin – we grew up in a neighborhood that was every kids dream and your family was a part of that. Your parents raised 3 wonderful kids and your Dad was an excellent role model. Lots of great memories playing sports in your backyard…..although I was not the best athlete……:) Carle had a great and full life and although will be missed, spent his last days living his life with his family. Thinking of all of you.
