My condolences to your family and friends. Everyone is in my prayers.
Joe, Carol Ann and Family — We are so sorry for your loss. Anyone who has not experienced such a loss can fully appreciate what you are experiencing. May it help to know that Thomas is no longer in pain and suffering the ravages of such a terrible disease. Please know, too, that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Betsy and Gary Stoff
Thomas you will live in the collective heart of the St. Stephen Protomartyr family. We’ve prayed for you. Cheered for you. Your fight and attitude inspired us. Our loving God said you’ve worked hard enough and sent the angels to shepherd you home to be with Him. Rest in peace Super Thomas.
Child Of Mine
I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while he lives,
And mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call him back,
Take care of him for Me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief.
You’ll have his lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take him home again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
‘Dear Lord, Thy will be done!’
For all the joys Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness,
We’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for him,
Much sooner than we’ve planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

God bless Thomas so sad when you lose a child
Bless all his siblings and his parents. May Thomas rest in peace with the Lord
Dear Tim and Joan,
My heart breaks with yours at the loss of your beloved grandson, Thomas Joseph, whose bright and joy-filled life touched so many in just twelve short years. No words can soften the sorrow of losing a child, and yet we hold onto the truth that his life—every moment of it—was precious, purposeful, and forever embraced by the God who created him.
Thomas lived with a fullness of spirit that far exceeded his years. His love for St. Louis City SC, his joy in the music of The Avett Brothers, the laughter he found in The Office, and the worlds he built with his Legos—“the bigger the better”—paint the portrait of a child filled with wonder, imagination, and delight. Thomas created joy wherever he went. These memories will forever shine as bright constellations in the hearts of those who knew him best.
As we mourn him, we also remember that he now rests in the loving arms of our Creator. This loss—unimaginable, unfair, and heavy—joins a grief known by many who have suffered the death of a child. The Church stands with you in this sorrow, offering prayer, comfort, and the hopeful promise of Christ’s mercy and peace.
This is the faith we cling to now that Thomas lives still, not only in memory, but in the radiant presence of God — whole, safe, and filled with a joy beyond our reach. That he intercedes for you from above. That he is held, loved, and known more deeply than ever before.
As we entrust Thomas to God’s eternal love, we pray this time of mourning may also be, in some small way, a time of healing — a reminder that you do not walk this path alone, that the Body of Christ grieves with you, and that your grandson’s beautiful life continues to shine in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Please know, Tim and Joan, that you, your family, and your precious Thomas are remembered, cherished, and prayed for. May the peace of Christ, which is stronger than death, surround you gently in the days ahead.
Grief is the Price of Love. May his Memory be Eternal.
