Phyllis Marlene Mills (nee: Hareford)
October 19, 1952 – March 5, 2025
Phyllis Marlene Mills, 72, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who found her greatest joy in the company of those she loved.
Born on October 19, 1952, Phyllis was the daughter of Donald and Margaret Hareford. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, whom she held close in her heart throughout her life. Though she experienced great loss, she remained the glue that held her family together, always putting others before herself with unwavering love and dedication.
For 55 years, Phyllis was the devoted wife of Ray Mills Sr. Their love was a beautiful testament to partnership, built on a foundation of laughter, resilience, and unconditional support. As a mother, she nurtured her two children with wisdom and endless love. As a grandmother, she delighted in every hug, every milestone, and every moment spent with her grandchildren. She was also a cherished aunt, always ready with a kind word, a listening ear, or a warm embrace.
Phyllis’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by family and friends, whether at holiday gatherings, weekend visits, or simple afternoons filled with laughter. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome, loved, and important. Her warmth was a gift, and her presence made the world a brighter place.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Lee Mills Sr; her children, Patricia Rae Thompson (nee: Mills), Ray Lee Mills Jr; her grandchildren, Brittany, Samantha, Zachary, and Andrew, who were the lights of her life; and beautiful nieces, handsome nephews, extended family members, and the dearest friends. While she may no longer be physically with us, her love and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held in May 2025. There will be more information in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by cherishing your loved ones, sharing laughter, and always making time for family—just as she always did.
Her love was boundless, her heart was pure, and her legacy will never fade.

I’ve known Phyllis since I came to the Antonia grade school in the early 1950’s all the way through high school & then met up with her again when we were both in physical rehab together two years ago. She was a fun girl to know & became a super lady. Always had a kind word for all who knew her & a smile on her face. I will miss her dearly. My sincere sympathy to Blue & all of Phyllis’s family.
