Jeaneane Oelke

In Loving Memory

Oelke, Jeaneane M. “Nina”

August 24, 1965 - May 19, 2025

Jeaneane was a beloved daughter, sister to Kathleen, cousin to Jeanette and Margaux, and friend to many. One of her favorite roles was being an aunt to her nieces Stefanie (to whom she was the most loving godmother), Lizzy, and nephew Chris, who adored her.

Nina is a proud alumnus of Fontbonne University, earning her BS and MBA.

Nina was always planning her next adventure with her family, selecting the best international cruise itineraries, historical tours, and far-away locales with sunny skies. She loved the beach, soap operas, true crime, boating at the lake, her German heritage, Christmas, Elton John and Billy Joel. She adored Disney and was a “Disney adult,” always checking in on her favorite Mouse. Nina would always sparkle and shine on her wrist and in her heart.

She was deeply nostalgic and was the time capsule for her whole family. She remembered every birthday, anniversary, and milestone. She was the first to celebrate her loved ones’ special day or accomplishment, with a call, text, card or incredibly thoughtful gift. She loved telling stories about how she was the first to hold her nieces and nephew when they were born.

Nina was proud to be part of the of the United Stated Army, where she worked for more than 20 years. In 2002, she was awarded the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service from the United States Army, which honored her many accomplishments in her career. After the Army, Jeaneane continued her Federal service working for the extraordinarily kind, supportive and professional team at the USDA. She was close with her “work family,” and had many lifelong friends from her distinguished career.

Jeaneane’s family finds comfort in knowing that Nina is now with her mom and dad, Johannes Daniel Oelke (1929-2019) and Anneliese Elisabeth Oelke (1933-2022), who were her best pals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to your favorite charity.
The memorial service will be private. A public Celebration of Life will be held this summer.

  1. Sadly I haven’t seen Nina (as we all knew her) since high school. Nina was always sweet. I never heard her say a negative thing about another person and I didn’t know anybody who didn’t like Nina. Way too young. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.

  6. To Jeaneane’s family and friends, my heartfelt condolences. I had the privilege of working with Jeaneane off and on since she started with USDA. She was always persistent in what she was doing, and always pleasant to talk with about work and family. I think the best word I could use to describe her is ebullient. I am sorry for her loss. Keep her memories alive.

  9. Genie was a very special little lady. She thought about everybody truly concerned with all of us had a big heart. She never got over her dad and mom leaving whenever we would bring them up in conversation she would cry. Yes she loved her nieces. They were her world and anytime you had a problem or an issue going on in your life. She was concerned and would check on you And send her love. I really miss going over to her house to do her hair color and cut Patsey’s always there. She loved her Patsey. I miss her so. When I first met Janine, she would come over to Ronnie‘s plaza to Performance where I worked to have her hair done. She drove her car. She was very independent. We would order food for her and her dad and MOM❤️😍☀️💋 at three kings and she would go by and pick it up and take it home and they would eat Dinner but then it got a little too hard for her to get to the salon so I came to her that was much better anyway we were one on one she could tell me about what’s going on in her life and I could tell her what’s going on in my life very comfortable in her condo. Sometimes she would put on some music for us. We would laugh and sing. She had the best little laugh. The last time I talked to her while she was in the hospital her spirits were still high talking about what she was gonna do to the apartment or maybe move to a different one so she can get around and the next time I called no answer called again no answer something happened. 🤔Ididn’t like that feeling.!She’s with her mommy and daddy and singing songs and doing what they do. I am very lucky that I met her and she’ll always have a spot in my heart. Love you, baby girl.
