OLeary

In Loving Memory

O’Leary, Mary Carol

(nee McCormick) Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Monday, December 14, 2020. Beloved wife of James O’Leary for over 64 years. Dear mother of Kathleen O’Leary, Michael (Susan) O’Leary, Daniel (Linda) O’Leary, Peggy (Jeffrey) O’Leary-Grever and James (Julie) O’Leary. Loving grandmother of Patrick, Kelsey, Brad, Mindy and Benjamin; dearest sister of Linda Ash; our dear sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend.

Carol O’Leary, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2020. She was at home, surrounded by her 5 children and the love of her life, during her final days. Carol was a 1952 graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School and was employed by General Electric.
In her early years, Carol’s personality and way of life was shaped by The Great Depression and World War II. At age 12, Carol became the family cook and cared for her three younger brothers and a sister each day after school. The Korean War followed. On St. Patrick’s Day more than 65 years ago she met a handsome, uniformed James Patrick O’Leary. Carol and Jim later married making South St. Louis their home.
Carol delighted in life’s simple pleasures and rarely turned down a party invitation. Dedicated to all things family, Carol kept busy with her children’s Holy Family School activities, sports, Lenten Fish Frys and CYC events. As children grew up and away, Carol enjoyed new friends and fun in the sun through water aerobics and various golf leagues. She even earned a “hole-in-one”. Travel to places near and far by both plane and car kept Carol & Jim on the go for decades.

Services: Memorial visitation will be held at Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Saturday, December 19, 4 p.m. until memorial service at 7 p.m. Contributions to American Cancer Society, The Alzheimer’s Association or The Marianists appreciated.
