March 7, 1944 - December 29, 2023

Janet Marie Osborne (nee Mertzlufft) passed away on December 29, 2023.  

She is the eldest daughter of Vincent and Margaret (nee Luppens) Mertzlufft; mother to Jerry (Karen) Osborne, Jennifer (James) McNeely and grandmother to Colin McNeely.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Barry and his wife Rita Mertzlufft, brother-in-law Ed Thomson, sister-in-laws JoAnn Mertzlufft and Sandy Mertzlufft, nephew Nathan Hummel, and her dear friend Dave Zinselmeier.

Family was the center of Janet’s life and they brought her great joy and comfort throughout her life.  She is survived by brother Ron (Barbara) Mertzlufft, sister Pat Thomson, sister Carol (Robert) Hohman, brother Vincent (Bonnie) Mertlufft, brother David (Marilyn) Mertzlufft, sister Margie (Nick) Hummel, brother Bill (Stephanie) Mertzlufft, sister Tammy (Jeff) Gleiforst, 33 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 12 at 9:30 am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church (2618 S. Brentwood Boulevard, Brentwood, MO 63144).  Interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery (6901 MacKenzie Road, St. Louis, MO 63123).  No visitation will be held.

  1. Our sympathy goes to the entire Mertzlufft family. We are deeply saddened with the passing of our dear friend Janet. I grew up with Jan . Went to grade school, high school, drum and bugle corp together. Were in each other’s weddings and went on a trip to New Hampshire a few years ago to visit our friend
    Nancy “Berry” Stearn. Loved Jan very much.
    She will be missed. Rest in peace friend.

As a caregiver you lose many people that you care about. And it’s such a great loss to me. As I got to know her. She will not be forgotten. Prayers at this time for all the family.
