Ramsey

In Loving Memory

Ramsey, William “Ike” Sr.

William “Ike” Ramsey Sr.
Better known as “Big Ike” once his son was born and he never lived it down once his son became bigger than him, which didn’t take long.
He is the husband of Kathleen Ramsey (Dolan) for 55 years, father to Laurie Roberts (Ramsey)/ David Roberts, and William “Ike” Ramsey Jr. He was grandfather and great-grandfather to David Roberts Jr, Kurtis Roberts, Katelyn Murray (Roberts) and Paige Roberts
He was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Violet Ramsey, his brother Jerry Ramsey Sr., and his grandson Kurtis Roberts.
Ike had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and in his younger years had no problem bringing home a deer or turkey. He loved fishing and enjoyed teaching and doing this with his children and grandchildren. Playing wiffle ball in the back yard on Easter or Memorial Day weekend brings back some fun memories for the family.
Ike was not always an easy man to bare, he could be onery, mischievous, trouble making prankster. He always had a wild side that didn’t quite fit his size. He definitely always thought he was bigger than he was and had loud voice to match. HAHAHA But he loved his family and friends and having a good time. We know a few of his favorite people from the Walnut Park Crew were there to greet him too.
We were blessed with having him as long as we have, we are thankful for the life events he has been able to be a part of over these years, the birth of his grandchildren and great grandchild, graduation ceremonies and most recently was his grand- daughter’s wedding, where he was able to dance with her and many others, you wouldn’t have guessed he was as sick as he was with all the dancing. It was great that his family was able to have such a great lasting memory of that day with him.
Services: Funeral from Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Monday, March 28, 11:00 AM with Visitation Sunday, March 27, 4:00-8:00 PM. Interment Shepherd Hills Cemetery.

  3. Ike was my brother in-law but also a friend. He took me shooting a couple times in the woods and we had our share of beer together. My sister, Ike and I went to the Imperial Club when Ike and Tina Turner performed there. Boy Ike had some great dance moves back then, so it didn’t surprise me he danced at his granddaughter wedding. He will be missed.
