Donita May Rogers Monday, July 31, 2023 Dearest wife of Charles Rogers for 34 years. Loving mother of Cindy (Ry) Lewis, Heather (Larry) Lewis and Desiree (Bryan) Rogers; dear grandma of Miranda (Lucas) Hedrick, Garrett Halbach, Brian (Carissa) Burns, Casey (Sam) Burns, Kasja (Cameron) Burns, Maddie (Steve) Palmer, Peyton Halbach, Dixie, Daisey, Braxton and Jaxson, great grandma of Conor, Gabe, Eleanor, Tatum, Anderson, Lennon, Crew, Presley, Stevie and Everleigh; beloved sister of Garnett (the late Ernie) Vance, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, friend and pretty amazing girl gang.
Donita loved life, art, her husband, her children, grandchildren and great granchildren. She had such a creative spirit, huge heart, and colorful personality. She will be missed dearly, but we will never forget her quirky humor, Facebook faux pas, and sassy spirit!
Visitation at Kutis South County Chapel 5255 Lemay Ferry Road Saturday, August 5, 2pm until 5pm. Concludes at funeral home. Memorial Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church 6020 Old Antonia Road Imperial, MO 63052, Friday, August 11, 10:30am. In memory of Donita’s love of art, the family will be collecting art supplies of any kind to be donated to a local school. A box will be present at the funeral home at visitation time and church at Mass time.
My Dear wife has gone to be with Jesus last night . She is in a better place . She will be missed but never forgotten . She loved her family and friends with all her heart . My deepest sympathy to you Charlie on the death of Donita. She was such a lovely person, always for me a smile and words of kindness and concern. In our family, she was a bright light. Love and prayers! Ginny
I can now express my grief about my high school best friend losing her battle with cancer. She was a positive, strong warrior to the end.
We became instant friends (soul sisters) when we met in Junior High by riding the same school bus for miles to Fox School. We were those young girls, ready for adventure and fun. I will say we had plenty of both.
We met boys, we went to dances, we hid alcohol in corn fields ( her Dad found later-ooops). She always helped me with my chores in the garden so I could go out to dances; we pulled weeds, picked okra, picked beans and tomatoes and so much more. We helped my Mom prepare all these garden goodies for canning. I can smell the memories.
When I was 16, I moved into her home. Things were not going well at my home (let’s just say). Now, we could really be sisters- Ha! I can still hear Sis, her Mom, saying…”you girls better be in by curfew!” Most of the time we listened. Not always.
She stood beside me as my Maid of Honor at my first marriage. She was very sad I had to leave for Hawaii to be with my husband who was in the Navy. Once I returned, we swam together, enjoyed our young children and continued our life together. My girls always and still do call her Aunt Donita.
As time goes by, life gets in the way! Sadly, we didn’t see one another for some time. Then, my daughters surprised me at my 50th birthday party with my bestie❤️. That was so amazing!
Since then we have caught up on our lives, and talked nonstop about our children and grandchildren and even great grandchildren. We relived all our shenanigans, organized high school reunions, and enjoyed being back together.
This past year I’ve been as much by her side as possible. I loved that she and her family brought me in as an advocate for her. You know in your heart and soul when you are wanted; I was wanted in their presence. We are family by the love we share!
We were “Warriors” at our high school; fight, fight fight! She did fight with all her might, staying so positive every step of the way. I’ll always remember her courage as I held her hand, kissed her cheek and fought back tears.
I love her, I miss her and I am so fortunate to have had her in my life all these years. Fly high Warrior, until we meet again!

Charlie, Ed and I are so sorry for your loss. Donita was loving, forgiving, funny and quirky and I loved her very much and will miss her, but I will carry her memories forever. Take care of yourself she would want that above all else.
