Paul entered into Jesus’ loving arms on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the age of 65. Treasured husband of Carol Schleicher (nee Flieg) for over 38 years. Loving father to Megan (Kevin) and Brendan (Megan). Paw Paw to 5 beautiful grandchildren: Tate, Poppy, Hailey, Madison, and Riley. Brother to Mike (Tiggerr), Mark (Jodi), Susan, Jane (Norb) and Matt (Michelle). Friend to many (you know who you are.)
Paul loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. They made him the happiest Paw Paw (some might even say he was the funniest Paw Paw as well.) They will most miss his hugs, silly games, after school pickups (with snacks, of course) and trips to the playground. While he most certainly did not enjoy garage sales and antiquing, he could often be found at one as the chauffeur and shopping buddy to Carol. He did, however, thoroughly enjoy a good Costco outing or short out of town trip, visiting new breweries or restaurants (and was always sure to ask the waitress what their favorite item on the menu was.) But his favorites were always eating wings, BBQ and almost anything chocolatey. We liked to joke with him about his 30 second showers, being a fun sucker and getting his prime getaway spot.
Paul enjoyed his friendships; from his lifelong friends, years with the Rookies softball team to newer ones. He was always up to help whenever and with whatever was needed. He loved to volunteer at church and to lead bible study. He fondly talked about his trips to Bent Creek for golf and Broussards. He loved talking about his favorite sports teams and has been a lifelong Blues fan. Paul would have loved for anyone attending to wear Blues attire to the service, if you would like.
The funeral is planned for Saturday, December 20, 2025 at White Flag Church 7531 Telegraph Road St. Louis, MO 63129. Visitation is from 9am until the service at 11am. I have known Paul for at least 55 years and I never once saw him angry or in a bad mood, even in these last few years. He always had a smile on his face and was a fun guy to be around. I am proud to say I was a Rookie teammate of his for many years and those days have provided me with a lifetime of great memories. Rest in peace Paul, you will be missed.
