Fr. Schloemer was born November 29, 1933, Ordained April 2, 1960, and passed away November 14, 2023 at the age of 89 after serving 50 years as a Catholic priest. Dear son of the late Bernard and Augusta (nee: Rotter) Schloemer. Beloved brother of the late Dolores Schloemer and Loretta Topolski (nee: Schloemer). Dear uncle of Mark and Keith (Sharon; nee Pizoni)) Topolski and great uncle of Andrew and Greg Topolski and Elizabeth Smith (nee Topolski)
Father Schloemer celebrated his First Solemn Mass on April 3, 1960 at Corpus Christi Church. He served at St. Cecilia Church, Kennett, MO., Sacred Heart Church, Poplar Bluff, MO., St. George Church, Van Buren, MO., St. Catherine Church, Piedmont, MO., St. William Church, Williamsville, MO., St. Agatha Church, St. Louis, MO., Most Precious Blood Church, St. Louis, MO., St. Justin Martyr Church, St. Louis, MO., St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, St. Louis, MO. Father Schloemer celebrated his 50th Anniversary as a priest on April 11, 2010.

Fr Schloemer was a pastor at St. Joachim Church in Old Mines MO. For two years.
Fr. Schloemer was one of the kindest priests in the Archdiocese I have met. I remember him walking the pastor’s dog and Fr. Schloemer saying, “He’s got issues!”
May he rejoice in the presence of the Eternal High Priest!

Fr. Schloemer married us on Saturday, May 6, 1978 at Assumption of the BVM in O’Fallon, Mo. He was a very kind and loving priest. May he rest in peace.

Fr. Schloemer gave me my first communion and he married my husband and I in 2002. He was a kind man of God. Rest in peace in the arms of your savior.
Father Bernie was one of the kindest priests I’ve known. He was a gentle soul and cared deeply for those who were suffering. He was also witty and would tell it like it is if you knew him well. He was a dear friend of my parents so I’ve known him since I was young. Fr. Bernie married my husband and I and buried several family members. He was my boss for a time as well. I pray that he now enjoys a much deserved eternal peace with Our Lord.
Rest in peace Father Bernie. He presided over our wedding and our children’s baptisms. I appreciated the way he never “judged” anyone and was accepting all people. My best memory was his excitement to try our very unusual ethnic Chinese food at our rehearsal dinner and he tried everything with joy.
